lookin for a tank 10 to 12 foot long...made of glass. i was lookin at a 540 gallon but would prefer something longer than 8ft.also cost! what would something like this cost? it was hard convincing my wife that i wanted a fish tank that cost more than her car,so the new Ford Expedition in the drive put that to rest, now the tank must move forward...any advise on the sump..i was thinkin 125...so if anyone knows of a tank or custom builder please let me know...thanks

i think sheets of glass only run up to 11 feet, so most builders draw the line at 10 - 10.6'

they will also use 1/2" glass up to 10' with a 24" width and height. if you want more than 24" of width or height, they will step you up to 3/4" glass, nearly doubling the cost of the aquarium.

bottom figure probably around $1200 for 1/2" glass before options like holes, overflows etc., plus shipping which could be 3 - $500.

The front of my tank which is 3/4" thick 30" x about 9'6" was about $800 this was low iron glass.
From what I know most glass is only 126" long. Get ready to spend lot of money. A lot of the cost for the glass is in cutting it. Also how much glass is left over from the sheet.

Does it have to be glass? How many sides will be viewable?

Hey Darren,

10 to 12 ft.. congrats. Is the new tank going in wall? or free standing with support equip in a tank stand?

Reason I ask is because if you have the room save some money and get a pair of 100 gal livestock bins, one for fuge or frag grow out and the second for support equipment. I'm using a 90 sump on my setup and there isnt an inch of room left for more equipment.
