Well now that i have the bug again ( the reefing bug not the red bug) i have really been working on the 120 gal tank. I don't have any pictures from when it was really bad but lets just say its improving. The clams are fully expanding now. the red slime is slowly getting less and less and slower coming back. I have done numerous large water changes(60 gal), got the skimmer running again, set up the refugium, increased flow in the tank, have been keeping up with the B-Ionic additive(haven't gotten around to the calcium reactor yet). Starting to see some growth again in the corals. These pics aren't the best but i think you can see the growth.

Nothing wrong with the reactor other then it was sitting for months with media in it, filled with water. I know its going to really stink when I open it up. Also need to refill my CO2

Glad to see the reef is bouncing back Bob.
I did a 50% water change after a long lazy summer and the corals look soo much better and the new growth was obvious in days. Since then I have been doing 5 gallons every other day. I will do another large one this weekend.
I'm in the same boat I have owned a Deltec reactor for over a year and never hooked it up. :(
All in good time bud

Awhile ago i changed from 400 watt MH to 250W. I'm thinking of going back though. i had much better color under 400W. Here is a pic of the coral in the fist pic i posted under 400W when it was smaller

Wow. That's a HUGE difference. How old do you figure the 250 bulbs are? Just curious if maybe that would be playing a factor as well. Whew... makes me want 400s over my display tank too :-)

i think because the coral got used to the 400 so when u went to 250 the light was not as strong & lost it's color.
i have seen beutifull SPS under 250's
trust me it's not the light & after hearing what Senjay had to say at MACNA it clears up a lot of mombo jombo.

so what did Senjay say at MACNA?

And Phyl i have been trying to figure out when i went to the 250W, thats how old the bulbs are. When my computer went down i lost all my records on the tanks. tyring to find receipts, hey right. I guess it must be time to get new ones
