October is our election month. Our club is pretty small and informal so rather than go through a nomination process if you want to run for a position feel free to nominate yourself and what position you are interested in (the positions and their descriptions are listed in the bylaws which can be found at www.nvreefers.org)
We will have an opening for Treasurer for sure as Lak will be moving and needs to bow out.
In general being on the board means you are comitted to the following:
a) Whatever the duties of your position are.
b) 1 or 2 board meetings a month, generally we get together and BS while somehow managing to talk business too :) Usually these take place from 6-9 in the evening and we alternate houses with dinner or potluck going on. It's pretty freindly and casual.
c) Occasional (or as often as you want) make the rounds in the Bay Area to collect raffle donations from our sponsors. We try to split this up so the same people aren't doing it all the time, but I like to go anyway! It's also a great way to REALLY get to know the sponsors, and let's just say that making good friends with our sponsors has it's benefits should you decide to do some shopping in their store.
This isn't too taxing and can be a good time actually, I'm really happy with our original BOD and we have all become very good friends, which in the end is what the club is really all about.
If anyone is interested just raise your hand, if not then we'll keep things how they are - but we WILL need a treasurer if anyone is up for it.
Happy Reefing,
Jacob.
