snails doa?

I got some snails shipped to me; it looks like they are DOA but how can I be sure?

Give them a sniff.

Must be dead..they smell like cooked shellfish

If they are dead they will have a very strong distinctive smell of death. It's hard to describe, but you will smell it as soon as you take them out of the water.

Do they move around immediately? They are motionless; some of them are visible in the shells and some aren't but nothing is moving; if they are in shock how long would it take for them to move?

After shipping they can sometimes take a few days to move.

These just look frozen..lol Should I drop them in my tank? I'm afraid of polluting it but I know they need circulation.

Well I wouldn't drop them in the tank ;), but yeah I would add them and then check on them in the morning. By then if they really are dying the smell should be very obvious.
