hey all,
my friend moonman gave me two pom pom xenia frags. other than great water quality and proper placement, are there any other things i need to do to take care of this coral?

parameters:
82 degrees
ammonia 0 ppm
trites 0 ppm
trates 2 ppm
salinity 1.026

You really shouldnt have to do anything special. When I feed I try and push a little there way. Other than that get ready to start pruning in 3 to 6 months.

most people try and kill it and cant. it will thrive just about anywhere

Yea it is a pretty hardy coral. It will also help export nutrients out of your system as that is what it feeds on. They normally spread pretty quickly as well.

i let it grow wild for about 8 months, talk about a tank takeover, i pulled one of my rocks out the other day to try to scrape it off...what a nasty job that was but still didn't get it all off, im afraid to even attempt to take out the other 25 stalks

So basically you guys are saying we newbies might not want to put xenia in our tanks...? :)

To me its a great coral for begginers. Easy to care for and grows fast. Thats what most newbies want. I like to watch things grow and xenia sure lets you do that.
