I Found This Shrimp (approx. inch long) about 3 weeks after adding live rock.

I thought this very orange stuff was coraline algae at first, but I read on a separate thread that this alage does not come in orange. It is much more orange than what is shown in the picture. Definately not red.

The first pic looks like the moult from a peppermint shrimp. The second pic is probably some type of sponge.

Duh, should have known it was a molt. Guess I got excited for nothing on that one.

If you have any that will try to eat the molt let them, they are a good source of protein

Corraline red algae can possess orange-ish pigments. I think that is a corraline.

Could be coralline. If you pull off a bit, and it fizzes in water, it's likely coralline. If not, I'd guess sponge.

i dont know if thats a molt or not. 2 weeks ago i fed my lionfish some ghost shrimp i got from lfs and yesterday i noticed that 2 were still alive underneat a piece of live rock picking stuff off of it ive never heard of ghost shrimp living in SW but they are.

Coralline comes in purple, pink, red,blood red,orange,yellow,and green.At least this is what I`ve read and seen in pictures.

I have small pieces of orange corraline.

Lots of sponges will fiz in vinegar too. Coralline does come in orange, but what you have looks like a common encrusting sponge.
