Trouble?

I have black... something... growing? on a piece of live rock that has been in tank for... 3 months, since the very begining. I just noticed it today, im not sure if it has been there. No pics.. no digital :(. Got some pic developed though on film, im still working out the kinks as to how to get good pics, kinda hard with stock lens on a rebel. Anyway.. black stuff on live rock... Bad?

Probably sponge.. I have red, yellow, orange, and black sponge. Looks thin and is only in spots???
