I have been messing with this fish stuff for a while now. I have always used tap water for my tank. Recently I have moved and the City water is very soft. I couldn't mix the salt. I found a water supplier in town that has very good processed water. I mixed my salt with it yesterday and it mixed in under 10 seconds. I was amazed after waiting 24 hours mixing my tap water and salt together. Anyway I have always thought that the RODI water was overrated and just thought that it was no big deal. Now I see why everyone uses it. It is great and you know that there is nothing harmful in the water. Anyway Reefcentral was right and I was terribly wrong. RODI water is the shiznit.

Yeah once you use a RO/DI unit and see the TDS readings it almost selld itself:):)

I hear ya!!!! I went from a 290 TDS to literally zero!!! I got the typhoon III from air, water,ice. those guys rock I had it installed in less than an hour. and if you tell them you a member of RC you get a free TDS meter

What ItsMee? Dont think the Typhoon III is any good? Thats the one I'm planning on gettin'. Any other suggestions?

I wouldn't use any thing but RO/DI water. I use the Aquasafe Unit. It has a 6 stage filtration system. I have made right at 1000 gallons since May this year and the water still test perfect to this day.

I wasnt knocking the Typhoon, I just thought his post was funny because after looking at his occupation it had an advertisement tone to it. :) I second What caveman says about the aquasafe unit...got mine off ebay cheap and it works good!

yeah sorry just a habit of the occupation. but really the typhoon is awesome. I was leary when installing it I am by no means a plumber, but I had it in less than an hour. if you go with air,water,ice tell them your an RC member and they hook you up with a free TDS meter.
