Hello all,
I was looking into my tank at night and notice this little white thing on the glass. the body was about an 1/2 inch long, kind of little worm body, with a lot of long tentacles extending form the other end. I don't have pictures, because i have yet learned to take them yet. when i flicked the light on, after a few minutes, it went into a ball and fell of the glass into the sand. Any ideas.

Sounds like a lettuce nudibranch. Safe, eats algae.

A pic:

Hey Barmstrong did it look like this? Not very clear but the best one I could find I had. If so they are pods!

sounds like some type of spaghetti worm to me. they have been known to climb the glass at night. heres a link with just a few marine worms. http://www.coralreefnetwork.com/stender/marine/worms/worms.htm

Lettuce slug sounds to big, pods do not usually ball up and fall, I like the worm idea. Sounds sort of spaghetti to me also.

Actually the small ones I have never seen it happen. the ones in my tank are about the size he describes. When I shine a flash light on them they will either run along the glass or ball up and fall to the CC and hide in it.

well running rules out worms, back to the pod theory, amphipods, copepods will hide in substrate if disturbed.

Yeah not sure. I thought it would be a lettuce, mine often balls up and falls if he wants to get to the other side of the tank quicker.

Well, did some research on worms and all, but could not find anything like it. I seen it again yesterday. I know it is not any of the nudis, nor is ia a pod. I really kind of looks like a tiny jellyfish with a long body rather than round. When I get the picture taking thing together, hopefully i can get a good pic of it and post.

does it swim or just fall off the glass to the sand? it may be some type of tube worm looking for a new home. if it swims it may be some type of jellyfish
