I'm just curious because I got some that are really starting to burst out in my coral only tank, problem is they were on a piece of tonga branch when I got it, and I think that might be restricting the growth rate. One of these days I'll break off a piece though and see how they do on a more rounder (or flatter rock)

oh, and of course the obligatory picture of them, I realize they are not that rare, but who cares I like 'em! Don't have much in the way of blue in the tank. :)

The Blasto Mer. I have grows ver quickly, alot quicker than a wellsi. Merelti are easier to aquaculture and more hardy than welli also.

agree with Bcollins, my Blasto Mer grows as fast as a F1 car...

I think they spread by budding off the bottom of the others. So if they only have two sides to spread on then their growth is slowed down.

looks like a welsi to me. But then again I'm a newb.

I thought meretti had a much more defined skeleton...kinda "branching"

Merleti for sure. They grow very fast under the right conditions. I have had a colony put out 20+ new polyps in 6 months before

Thanks, yah I know they're merletti ;) I was just curious about the growth so I can possibly split some off that piece of branch rock and let them grow elsewhere.
