what is this? ID question

Hi, I bought a rock covered with mushrooms about a month ago.

I am noticing two new things:
1) fine thread looking red polyp about 4mm tall in a cluster. Im affraid it is early atipsia but it too small to tell for certain
2)red flat polyps possibly glove/clove about 5-6mm wide with seven feather "fingers"

Im not so worried about identifying #2 because I don't fear it to be a problem.

Is there anything else that you believe #1 could be besides atipsia?

Sorry no pics. These are so small and bad angle that the picture was worthless.

Any Id suggestions would be helpful.

Sounds like a red colored feather duster...just a guess though. With live rock it could be a million things. To bad the picture did not come out for you. If it is something bad don't worry about it to much, there will be time to eraticate it later :) .

#1 sounds like hydroid to me. (red, thread-looking)

You were right. They are little hydroids. I did a search and found pictures that were basically the same little critters. From what I have read, I will be removing them this evening.
