Holy crap I'm putting like half a gallon in a day! Anyone else have this problem

yes it is usual. but i would also chek to see is any thing is leaking.

i have this problem too. you could get an auto-top system. remember to use fw to top off because salt dose not evaporate.

Thanks for the info I looked for a leak I think it's just a little ridiculous may junk the cube

Carson- What is the temp of the tank? Keep your temp around 75-77 if possible. The higher the temp, the more water that will be evaporated.

Yeah it's pretty normal. I have 36w PC over my 5g and I have to put about 1/2quart in everyday when I come home.

I put in about 1/2g a day, but then again It's open top now, and has a 150w MH hanging over it, and is around 80F stable.

I'm getting an Aqualight 150w clip-on MH this week for my 12g. It has a built-in fan, but do you use any supplemental equipment (fans, chillers, heaters) to keep your temp stable? I don't have a heater or chiller, I do keep my A/C on very low though, to between 66-72 degrees.
