HelloLights special on MH

I currently have four 2 foot VHOs and am interested in bumping up to MH and keeping 2 of the VHOs for actinics. I have a 58 gal, mostly softies.

The special is a 250 for $115.00 with a free XM bulb (I'm thinking 10K to go with the actinics)

Anyone have any experience with these or have better suggestions?

The 10K XM's are pretty white IMO. I will be switching to 15k's when I change out. I am getting a new camera on Tuesday and can tank some pics of the tank with and without the MH's. It could also be that I have 2 400's on a 75 and the MH's overpower the 3 VHO's.

I agree with tye. I also have 10k with VHO and my next bulbs will be 15k.

I'd appreciate the pics, tye. I've never had halides, so I really don't know which temp I should go with.

Anyone use the AROs? Is it a good deal?

I had an ARO 150 watt ballast that did not last very long. It was replaced with an ice cap.

I have two ARO MH ballasts and one VHO ballast. They are good quality. Ice Cap is very similar in design.

aro is a good ballast...i think its a good deal, even if the ballast fails (which i doubt) you still have a free lamp, so essentially it almost pays for itself
