How long did it take the cloud of southdown to go away? This for the people that have used it.

Around 1 week.

Keep your heaters on, and your lights and pumps on their normal cycle. At some point the bacteria in your water will attach to the sand grains and that will help weigh them down.

I put 150 lbs in my 90 gal a year ago, and I do not regret it. I've had alot of fun with my sandbed so far...

I washed the sand several times berfore I added it.
I hope everythign turns out well.....when I put the first scoop in I was gritting my teeth and praying to the reef gods..

2 days if you rinse it. I rinsed mine pretty good and it was only like a day or two.

I did not rinse mine - and it was done in a week... you should be done in a few days.

For the precipitate on the rocks - I blew it off with a turkey baster...

Get a bag of filter floss and put it in your overflow or other filtration, the cloud will be gone in a day.

yup I put a micron filter in my HOT magnum. I didnt use southdown; but aragonite sand, and Id assume dust is dust. anyway, it was pretty opaque after a day by itself, 2 hours with the filter and it was crystal clear.
