Very cool #3, never seen such colorful pipes. Love the paddle tail.

Thanks! Their tails are amazing. These guys are free swimmers not clingers like seahorses, which is why they have that beautiful paddle tail. Two of them were doing these jerking motions side by side last night. I assume it is mating related. They seem to really be loving the arch I have created. They swim all over the entire tank and are not affraid of me. Which makes them nice for photographing.

It's amazing they can even swim considering they have no fins...

You ever heard of them spawning in captivity?

They actually have small pectorals and a dorsal that are transparent. They also flutter super fast like a hummingbird!

I read that if they have a steady diet that they will spawn. I have oinly heard of a few people being able to raise the fry. I hope I get a chance to try.

You should have no problem raising the fry with all your copepods. Are you feeding them anything besides copepods, like cyclo-pleeze?

I tried some cyclopeeze last night. They got all excited but I didn't see any of the pipes eating them. It will take some time but I should be able to ween them onto frozens by slowly introducing them with the live feeders. I also started hatching brine which will be gut loaded with Selcon.

That is sooo cool. I hope to set up a SH and pipe tank or one or the other when I am older.

Any full tank shots with the pipes in it?

They are all about 5-6" Most reading says that they max out at about 7" so I imagine that they are full grown.

I'll try to get a full tankshot posted shortly. You are more than welcome to come over and check them out!

Those are the coolest Pipes I have ever seen. I know you will give them the best home they could have. Good luck on the spawning.
