This is a 5.5g aga tank with 1x26 watt quad bulb pc @ 6.5k.
with 1 penguin mini fitted with a sponge filter.
The tank houses 9 dwarf seahorses and 1 pipe fish.
The substrate is a mix of south down sand and white sugar sand.
I have several different types of macro algae starting in new growths on the substrate.
I only have 4 astrea snails for my clean up crew as well.
The onl ylive rock in it are small pieces of Live rock rubble and one medium sized piece of dense tonga branch( Whiched was soake in fresh water for 30 minutes before adding to the tank one month before the seahorses and pipe fish were added.
The water parapemters are: Amonia=0, nitrite= 0, nitrate=0 PH=8.3, Temp = 78 deg and holding with salenity @ roughly 1.023. Maybe 1.024

Nice Camera. Tank looks cool too. Aren't you worried that hammer or bubble tip might sting the horses though???Unless I'm not looking at it correctly.

Thanks guys/gals....and yes that is only a background! LOL!
It's one of those realistic photos. My seahorses are always trying to escape into the deep blue through my back glass too! Prety funny and sad all at the same time! LOL!

Are you keeping them at 78F on purpose or is that just room temperature for you? I ask only because my crew seem a little agitated and stressed at temps over 75F.. they just breathe a little too fast for my perfect peace of mind. What I see recommended is a range within 70-74F actually. Be sure they experience higher extremes in nature and all.. but I think a long term 'high' temperature might stress them out and make their immune systems a little weak.

Just curious

Henry, I dont mean to be rude , but you seem to be fairly new to the concept of keeping seahorses.
These are not for novice aquairists AT ALL.
THey are highly adapted, delicate, and NEEDY fish.
The require DAILY freshly hactched brine shrimp and , rotifier feedings.
Please do not atempt to keep a seahorse of any spiecies with out researching them thoroughly. Even then second guess your being able to keep them alive.

All that being said. They are some of the most mystical, gracefull, and peaceful creatures to ever grace the ocean's.
My set up only ran me around $45.00. The seahorses....
I cant tell you what price I got them at because if some one on here knows wher eI get my stuff they would be more than PO'd at what they are paying versus what I am paying from the same place.
This is because I have known my supplier for MANY MANY years and go diving with him every year.
Lets just say way cheaper than most can get them.

Samala,
Mine seem to be doing just fine at 78 deg actualy. no heavy respirating, no disease out breaks. Thier eating every time I offer food. Always swiming and hunting.
Mine are from the floirda keys though where the water is almost always above 75 deg. This may be why?
I know some are near cold water ponies, but I am fairly confident these are not.
I will perform a test and gradualy drop the temperature to 75 deg this week over 5 days and see what happends.
Thank you for your input and concerns though!
