Is it just that I'm a dummy and just figuring out that most shower drains are bulkheads?

Interesting point. Most shower drains have some kind of metal in them though, so they probably would not be completely salt water safe.

Yeah but most of the metal is "pop off". So you are left with just pvc. They make the threaded end a little broader so you would need a more than standard hole size.

Once again, Lindsey finds a way to save us money. Of course this comes after I already spent money on real bulkheads

I would not go cheap on bulkheads with all that water pressure. You wouldn't want to empty a 100 gallon display because of a leaky bulkhead on them bottom.

Not sure how much pressure would really be there. A few inches of water realy does not matter that much. I think it is a good idea and a rather cheap one at that

careful on selecting the shower drains. many have a taper on what would be the outer rim. it might act as a wedge, like on a drywall screw. it might put unwanted force on the glass.

I am not planning on using these. I already have bulkheads, but I just happened to check then out today.

I agree with ronc, I don't thenk there is much pressure on them, and from looking at some of them, they are pretty well made.

Secondly the ones I saw were square "so to speak" and had no tapering.

I mey try these in a sump some day.
