Just wanted to make this post as a tribute to a pair of clowns I lost today. They were a pair of black saddle backs ( A. Polymnus) that I got from Bullet (a local reefer) a couple years ago that were on their way to helping break the secret of why these clowns are not bred in captivity.
Just 2 days ago a fellow Reefcentral clown geek posted that their Black Saddles had spawned and I was getting excited as we were making progress. Mine had been cleaning their pot off and on for a year with no eggs, but they were getting closer. Today, due to a HOB filter failure during the night, I found them both dead laying side by side. It is crazy that that happened when I forget pumps off all the time with my spawning pairs, when catching late night fry, without issue. So, please learn from my loss and the losses others have shared so you don't have this happen to you.
Rest in Peace, Nalla and Simba 08/19/05
