I'm looking to buy a refractometer, but I don't even know where to start. What should I look for in a quality refractometer? I'm looking for something that's easy to use, and being wallet-friendly would help too. Any specific brands or models you can recommend would help greatly.

I like my Sybon too.

I think Custom Aquatic (sponsor) has it. Check for the discount code in their forum.

I bought the cheap one on ebay. It rocks. It looks to be exactly the same as my friends $150 refractometer. And guess what... it reads exactly the same. He got a nicer dropper and screwdriver than mine, but I am not sure thats worth an extra 120 bux.

I bought my Sybon FG100sa from Premium Aquatics aswell.
I cant seem to keep this thing calibrated. Every time I go to use it, its off. Does anyone know how to keep it calibrated? I have lost the instructions. I know how to adjust the calibration, but how do you keep it there? I have tried uncrewing the bolt and adjusting it then tightening the bolt agian, still does not last.

How do you check it's calibration? I hope mine is accurate.

just use fresh RO water and make sure it is on 0 if not there should be a adjustment screw and you will have to turn it to adjust in

I do everything correct, and its not that it does'nt calibrate, its just that I have to calibrate it everytime I use it, even if its the very next day.

If you still have trouble, call Premium Aquatics or post on their forum here on RC..they're pretty good about getting back to you about these issues.
