I have 5 110w VHO's 3 40/60's and 2 Actinics. Will I be able to put and LPS's in the tank? In addition to that are there any limitations on SPS's.

I want to put sone greentip acroporia in the tank and sone other things that are similar. Do they have to have MH?

The tank is 24"deep

acropora can be put in the top 6 inches of the tank

Not sure about the acropora, but that's plenty of light for LPS. In fact, some LPS (brains) might not like it high in the rock work.

your color and growth might not be as good with less light but you can definitely keep them in the top portion of your tank. lots of people keep sps with vho and even pc's. you might look into adding a couple tubes if you like the acros. an ARO ballast will only cost you $35

just make sure you have nutrient levels down and Ca Alk where they need to be

I'm surprised people can keep sps with pc but it's been done and with great results. I personally run MH

For years reefers have great growth and color under VHO of SPS.
A Calfo told me he would much reather use VHO then MH lighting he knows a thing or two.

I mainly use VHO for two reasons: 1) heat (I don't have room or money for a chiller and 2) color. From what I've heard, VHO (specifically URI Actinics) just can't be beat for color on LPS (which are my passion). In the future, I plan on upgrading to 6 tubes over my 90 (4 actinic, 2 actinic-white). A LFS has at 2-to-1 actinic to actinic white over one of their LPS displays, and the colors really pop.
