View Full Version : Why does my Kent TE skimmer produce micro bubbles??

Everytime I have to turn off the skimmer or maybe even just clean it, I get micro bubbles out of the exhaust which then get sucked up by the return pump. It eventually quits doing it after several hours, but what can I do to prevent it. Do I need to adjust the exhaust tube or something?

What I didn't add to my original post was that I had used the chemi-clean the day before to help with a cyano problem. So I wrote to Kent & here is their reply. Hope this helps others!

Thank you for using our TE skimmer. What you are seeing is the skimmer trying to remove the chemiclean. The chemiclean must have a coating effect on the bubbles, so you gain excess amount that now goes out the exhaust tube. This is normal whenever you add certain products to the aquarium. Just give it a few days to work out.

when i used new carbon w/ my old seaclone, it would go bonkers, practically overflowing... like spilling stress coat in the tank. thats the only time it seemed to work anyway! :D

to get the most out of your TE, consider a powerful needlewheel pump.
