Looks good. Probably better then some pendants on the market. Can we see a pic of the tank + light too? What bulbs are you running in the pendant?

My own, but it's seems to not be giving enough light, so I am going to fabricate another one tomorrow, but do it out of dioman plate. I will take pictures.

snulma1, I have the AutoCad 14 drawings if you can use those.

arpee79, the sides are steel, and ar powdercoated so they will not rust, and the top and bottum is Aluminum, and Alumium dosn't rust.

reefmaint, I am using a Hamilton 250w MH HQI Magnetic Ballast.

Thanks for the complements every one :D

Travis,

Yeah, can you e-mail me with the plans, I'll send you a PM with my address.

How did you bend it into the dimensions you used?

Travis Savant

I used a Bystroninc Press Break (6 axis).

The pendant looks great for DIY. Your tank looks really nice also.

Well, this wasn't your standared DIY project. the total cost of the machines that I used tallied up to be alitle over $500,000. I think I had the upper hand in this DIY project :lmao:

not to knock your DIY but that aluminum might corrode over time. i def like the screws tho. looks very "heavy duty". how much does it weigh?

Travis Savant
08/12/2005, 05:28 PM
It wieghs around 4 lbs, and hate to knock your statement, but Aluminum dosn't carode easily, that's why they store food and soft drinks in it ;)

I like the heavy duty look also, but it's not just for "looks".

Sorry, but alluminum will corrode in this type of environment. Not nearly as quickly as some other metals, but it will.

You don't buy a can of pop in an aluminum can. You buy it in a can made of aluminum that has been coated with another product.

I would not reccomend it's use unless it will be dry, safe from salt spray, or coated.

Just FYI.

Ok, thanks

You got me wondering, so I looked it up, and it will become Oxigenized.

I think I am going to take it apart and Powder coat a clear coat on it.

Thanks.

On a similar note, is that a metal mesh guarding your overflow?

arpee79
08/13/2005, 02:08 AM
I just noticed the Air pump just a little to close to the Edge ,dont you think?. Plus those clips holding the cables, Powder coat that sucker too ...lol .

Travis Savant

No, the pump isn't to close, and that mesh is plastic, it came with the CPR Overflow box.

The clips are already coated.
