I bought this anemone with the understanding it is a LTA. Anyone have thought's on this, does it look healthy? I recently inherited a pair of black percs and hope they host to this. Currently the anemone is in the rocks, it hasn't moved in 24 hrs...I have read these guys require a SB but I'm afraid the lighting is too subduded in the bottom of my tank. Any feedback will be greatly appreciated.

I wanted to get a couple of shots of the foot so that the anemone experts get an accurate read on this. TIA

Im not sure what species it is. But I can say that my giant carpet anemone has been doing quite well on my rock. I think that good lighting and good water flow are far more important.

Very cool anemone

Looks like a purple strain of M. doreensis, also known as an LTA (long tentacle anemone). It looks bleached (not usually good). It prefers to bury its foot in the sand. Most sand beds in aquaria are not deep enough, however, I have found that they will find comfort burying their stalk sideways between sand and rock. Good luck.

im pretty sure that anemone is bleached. It's supposed to be much darker and not see-through.

So should I take it out before it dies??? What do you all suggest I do with it?

I moved it to my 120...the 55 I put it in only has PC's and I had a nice large area of DSB in the 120 w/ 4 150 w MH's. I'll take your advice and feed it. Hopefully it comes around.

What do you suggest I do about my clowns? They are captive bred black percs which have never hosted to an anemone. Should I put them in the 120 or get WC fish that will have a better chance at hosting?

Did you get that anemone from Reefermadness???

I remeber a heated debate about how that color couldn't be real and that it was bleached.

It should be fine in the 120. I would want it to be a little darker in the center before attempting to get something to host in it. As for the Percs hosting who knows it depends on there mood.

Bleached or dyed??? I bought this anemone from an LFS who gets their stuff from Pacificaquafarms. They have a pretty good rep don't they? Are you saying its dyed or what?

now it was just strikingly similar to the other one on reefer madness. i don't think it's dyed it just funny how things pop up all over the place at around the sametime. I think the verdict was that was the actual color and it was slightly bleached but recovered fairly quickly. i would feed it and make sure it stays happy.
