View Full Version : Have you heard of this system design?

I was thinking of a DSB system with a Plenum, in a tank with a drilled bottem , allowing for the removal of water down through the sand bed, fitted with a valve to flow through some small percentage of tank water per day, either to a drain or into a sump for skimming
This, placed in a tank with a floating reef and a large number of sand stirring creatures may solve the "nutrient leaking" problem some people have experianced with old DSB's so that one could keep large numbers of sps along with burrowing creatures like jawfish healthy for the long term .
I don't have the means to test this theory, but I would like to hear from someone who has seen a system like this, what is it holding? How long has it been running?
Or, is this system unworkable for some reason. Is it worth trying as a nano tank?
