3x175 watt MH retro bright?

Hey does anyone use only 3x175 watt MH on a 125 gallon before...would those 3 MH's be bright enough to keep a mixed reef tank with mostly soft and some hard....

Is having 3x175 watt Mh's brighter than having 6x96 watts of pc over my 125 gallon....I know the wattage is way more for the pc but arent we suppose to look for brightness instead of wattage...

after all doesnt MH's put out more lumens per watt or more par for every watt than the pc's...

I will be mounting these within my 9 inch canopy with those spider reflectors and not a plain flat ....

anyone have pics of there 3x175 watt setup....thanks

the halides are very directional so will go straight down where you point them, the pc's have more of a spread so all the light might not get exactly where you want it. I would personally go with the Mh's. Maybe later on you could supplement with pc or vho?
