I've got a 150G acrylic tank with thin 1/4" sides all around. Can I use scrap acrylic to double the thickness around the bulkheads to reduce the chance of leaks on the back wall? Or should I just stick to doing everything through the bottom panel?

Are you sure it is 1/4"? That seems extremely thin for a 150g. I would expect 1/2" acrylic. You could weld a piece of acrylic where you are going to drill bulkheads, but I don't think it will help much.

Unless my ruler is bad, it's only 1/4" on all the panels. That's why I want to reinforce the bulkheads so they don't flex and leak eventually. I'm fairly certainly this should work, just looking for opinions.

The tank is used and full of scratches along the bottom from the last person. It holds water, may as well give it a shot.

If it is 1/4", you're asking for a disaster IMO. There's no way I would trust that in my house. I have a 130 acrylic tank and it's 1/2" all the way around. My sump is about 35 gallons and made from 1/4". With the pressure of 35 gallons it bows, no way it would hold 150.
