i just built a 150 gallon tank it's 5 by 2 by 2 i was wondering if i could put a 4 foot fixture insted of a 5 foot fixture i really don't think that the 6 inches on either side would make a dif. and how many lamps should it have?

I would go with 8 myself if I was using T5's, but I prefer metal halides.

I guess the most important question would be, what do you plan to keep?

just soft corals no clams or sps

Probably at least four so it is bright enough, but six would be better, and 8 better still. Kind of on the expensive side though. A 2x250w metal halide setup would probably be cheaper and do a better job (remember the glitter lines! :D ).

I have a 4ft 6 bulb T5 fixture over my 180G FOWLR, it lights it up pretty good
