Can anyone help? My Custom sealife chiller died this morning, and I received excellent info from DougC. I already ordered at 1/3 HP Delta Star Aqualogic for a total of $737. I can get a unit from tradewinds for a lot less (almost same parts though). What are your thoughts on the right replacement chiller?

My AC guys tells me the Copeland compressors that TradeWind uses (CSL reborn) are better then the Tecumsah (sp?) compressors AL uses. I'm not sure about the 1/3 HP SUPER TradeWind chiller but the 1/2 HP SUPER has 1.5" fittings. I was a click away from ordering the TW 1/2 hp 115 volt chiller with 1.5" fittings. I decided to move my old 1/3 hp AL chiller out to the garage...that saved me 1000.00

If I were you I'd look into just replacing the compressor, if that's what died. The cost would be a lot lot less then buying a new chiller.

Yeah the compressor will be about 275-300$ + 45 pounds shipping, with no warranty to fix, I can buy new for around 700$. thanks for the info!

I think the cost to replace the compressor and coil on my unit was about 350.00 (give or take) It pretty much comes as one uni, the heat exchanger barrel is just added on...

300 is a LOT better then 700
