acrylic scratches

anyone have experience in removing scratches w/water and animals, fish in ?

The package on scratch removal kits say that they work underwater. From my experience (following all their directions), the result was still a little cloudy. I think the best results come from buffing dry.

Also any worry about the acrylic "dust' while animals in tank w/ water in or
even when working above the water line?
