which color for 400W metal halide is the best

10000K 14000K or 20000K I can get these colors for a good price which one should I get

Well, on an HQI ballast, 20k, but on a standard magnetic ballast, 14k IMO.

I have a Sunlight Supply Blue Wave 7 dual HQI ballast (2x430w) with 20k Radiums and they burn pretty WHITE with a little hint of blue.

I use 2 x 20k XM bulbs and they work awesome! I love the color it puts out. The corals look great too.

For good price, check ebay or hellolights.com. Never had any problems ordering from them.

do you know the brands you can choose from, you will be surprice how different k rating varies from company to company, also another thing elephen pointed out, ballast impacts extremely on how a bulb looks and performs too

It depends upon the brand of bulb, the brand of ballast, type of bulbs, type of ballast. There are several permutations and combinations that are possible. Look up Sanjay Joshi's articles on color, etc. to get a good idea.
