my skimmer that is right next to the fuge should I clean it out?

I'm probably going to have a similiar problem - would it be best to shield that part of my sump (i.e. w/an ABS panel)?

A solid shield (abs is fine IMO) should work perfect. As long as the light does not directly hit the skimmer you should be fine.

I have the same thing. That damn awsome light bulb causes my coralline to go crazy in my sump. EVEN IN THE SKIMMER ITSELF!! I have to dismantle it and scrub it monthly.

Yes I think I will have to clean my skimmer soon. So the best way to prevent this is to use a shield?
