View Full Version : Advice on my sump plumbing scheme?

I am adding a water change sump to my system as well. I am placing it in my basement. The only thing I can say about your design is to ensure you use 45 degree elbows whenever you can as 90s increase head preasure greatly.

You can also use what are called sweep elbows-- these are gentle curve 90 degree elbows and would work better then 2 45 degreee elbows to accomplish a turn....

You will have to look a little harder for these at a hardware store

I've seen those sweep elbows around the drain pipe stuff in the hardware stores. Those will be nice. I'll also be using spaflex where I can to help reduce noise and plumbing fittings...

On your closed loop I would add a union on both sides of the pump, and a drain at the lowest point of the system, as well as a ball valve on both sides of the system so you can shut the ball valves, drain the line, service the pump, and reattach everything. You also need a port to add water to reprime the pump more than likely.
