When we purchased our CPR the unit came with a RIO 600 (approx. 200 gph). I see they are now selling the units with a Maxi-Jet 1200 (approx. 300 gph).

Does the stronger pump necessarily mean that the Bak Pak will work better? Has anyone tried the Bak Pak with different gph rated pumps?

I have a regular BP and put a Rio 800 with venturie that was used on another skimmer on it, and it works better than the 600 or MJ1200 with less noise.

Thanks Robert! Any other thoughts?

I bought an MJ1200 to replace the Rio600 on one of my BakPaks. But the MJ1200 was too noisy for my tastes, so I switched back to the Rio 600.

Any reason I couldn't put a MJ900 on it or does the BakPak require some special hookup?

I'm not concerned about noise as I have an overflow which sounds like Niagra Falls. :)
