tonight when i got home from work, I (like every night) empty my change into a 5 gallon culligan jug. well tonight i filled the jug, so I'm wondering where the best place to take a 5 gal jug of loose change is?

the Kroger's around here have "coinstar" machines, but i may just go to a bank, but i'd hate to roll all that change:eek:

i coinstar my change. but it does suck to pay a 7% fee.

Don't they make little sorting machines?

This ones from sharper image, but you can pick them up from Ebay, or somewhere like staples fairly cheap. If your jar is full, its most likely less than the 7% you would pay anyway

My bank has a sorting machine for general use. If you have a bank, then there is no charge. Go to your bank and see if they have one, or see if they will sort change.

If not, a coinstar's 7% charge is not that much considering how much time it will take you to roll 5 gallons of change.

^ I just take mine to the bank and they run it through their machine.

Ditto, just take mine to the bank and they have a machine that runs it all through and gives a reciept that you cash in. Just a note the machine DOES NOT like Barbi shoes:D (if you have a three year old little girl you will understand).

I use coinstar too, but it sucks when you see what it charges. I've gone in with $200 in change (not knowing I had that much) and ended up paying about $15 just to get it counted. It was super easy but expensive.

Our bank won't take rolled change they do it theirselves. Last time Dan turned in change he had $500, we went gambling!

Way to go, Debi. That's a lot of change.

My son cashed in his change to get me a mother's day present - awwwwww.
