Sand Storm. Oops, that's my name for it,. It's all it ever did in my tank. It settles on everything and wears out all pumps prematurely since it stays in suspension so easily. Don't do it. Its very pretty, but high maintenance.

I apologize to all those I sold it to in years past.

Apology accepted. :) I am still vacuuming the stuff out with every water change. I didn't realize how bad it was until I received a free montipora capricornis frag.

I still keep it in the sump, though, where my clownfish can't "sway" it and my pistol shrimp can't dig it. ;)

That said, I think the new name is "OldCastle Tropical Playsand" or some such thing.

Try putting an overactive pistol shrimp and clownfish fighting over the same sand dump (aka clownfish "home") in with some Southdown. Not pretty.

Here's an old pic, check out the sand dunes on either end. The cap was on the bottom to hide the glass. It was always in the rocks, on the coral, yaddayaddayadda.

That picture is crazy! I see why you tossed it. I have it and am happy but I have no real sand stirrers to rearange it like that pic. My clam has made a divit on his blow out side next to him but nothing like that.

I have no issues with mine, either. I have an engineer goby and a maroon clown. There was a little blowing around for about the first nine months, but none since unless Shakes decides to redecorate, but even then, it's not bad. I only have about 30X turnover, though...

Dolphin 4700 - main supply
Iwaki70 - CL
2 Tunze 6100's
60+ turnover/hour

Hey, if you lived in Jonesborough you'd have all this crap too.

I had close to six inches in my 120 and never had any problems. I only revoved it because I tore the tank down.
