going to use an eheim 1250 for return on the 40 breeder I am buiding. couple of q's:
It looks like it has a base that can be removed from the picture on marinedepot, is this true?
If so what is its exact width without the base?
thanks

The base can be removed. There are two small rails that slide into the pump and give you the wholes for the suction cups. They slide out with a gentle tap from a hammer.

The body width without them is just under 3", something like 1/16" less.

Great pumps, I have a few running as returns and recirculating on calcium reactors.

marinedepot says the width is 3.8", so its 1/16" less or its under 3"?

YES, both are true.

It's 3.8" with the rails / base installed and the suction cups in place. It's just under 3" with them removed.
