From reading the posts lately it seems there are alot of us interested in rare color morph lords. I know a few people, me included have talked about pooling our money and all going in on a colony and frag it up when it comes in. I know Dusty and Andy (ICU2) have mentioned this idea as well. I am game for this idea if anyone else would like to join. I am willing to throw in $100-$125 for a frag of a colony. I just want to get a good idea of who else would like to do this as well. Please understand that if you say you are commited to buying some frags you are going to purchase them and have the money upfront. The final decision IMO on what morph will be agreed upon by all putting in the money. Each person will get a certain size frag depending on how much money you have to spend. I know there is only a handful of us out there that could afford to purchase a whole colonly by them selves. This way we can get a rare morph here in Columbus at a more affordable price for all. If anyone is interested please reply to this thread. If you have a certain colony you have found online of intrest please post the picture. We can do a vote at the end to see what colony everyone favors most. When the colony is chosen via voting, you do not like it you do not have to perticipate, but please let us know before hand. Please throw out any more info on how to make this run smoother if you have any....

ok, i can probably find a pretty rare morph. i just pretty much need to know the total of everyones input on the coral. so i know what kinda budget there is to work with. once i know ill relay the situation to a few people and give them a number and see what they come up with. im not too particular about colors i just know that id rather not get a red/grey, red/blue, red/green kinda combo. hopfully we can find somthing that is truely a one of a kind. i agree phishy would deffinently a good person to talk to because he has some pretty good connections with acans himself.

I would not mind finding a green morph. That one looks cool. Any way they can get a closer picture of it? Its a little tough from the picture to tell if its worth 100 per polyp for me anyways.

Yes the price may eventually go down, but some acros are still high that have been out for a while. $300 is expensive for a polyp, but it is all about supply and demand.

lol i know whos acans those are! they are very nice and they have excellent color but there has been polyp after polyp sold on ebay not to mention private sales. with a little time they will be all over and the price cut in half. i say we shoot for a one of a kind. for $100 per polyp it should be the only colony of that morph in the country. acanthastrea are incredible corals and for me its just a preference. i could care less about the fad, i buy what catches my eye and acans do it to me all the time. im not a fuzzy stick guy but respect those who like them because they are sticking to what catches thier eye. same thing just preference. i wish people would just pick up on the fact that all reefers have a few loose screws in thier head. $1k on a box made of glass? $600 for rocks? $100 light bulbs. i dont find it strange that somone would spend $300 on a coral lmao

That's a nice Acan Lord, but the price would have to come down significantly with quantity. We'd probably be getting at least 10 polyps, maybe more between all of us. See what kind of money he wants for that, and that will tell us.

im workin on it icu2 lol. serdar would be a great person to discus this with. he has some sweet connections and hopfully he'd be a little partial to us. i am and always have been in awe of berlinmethods acans. the white and green ones are not the most colorful but it is the one coral i have longed for since i saw it. truely a one of a kind. something like that is exactly what im trying to track down for us lol

Aquadesignz (http://www.aquadesignz.com/lps.htm) has some amazing looking lords. They are all around 100 dollars per polyp for 10 polyp frags. This may be a bit expensive. It would be tough to frag up a 10 polyp frag between 5 people without possibly killing a few polyps and that would suck a 100 bucks a pop. We could e-mail him see what he can find for us. I got an order from him several months ago and was happy with his service.

We could do a couple smaller frags of different morphs and then after they grow out frag them and exchange with people that got the other morphs. Say 3 morphs with around 6 polyps split them each in 2 and if we had 6 people with-in 6 months to a year I would guess all 6 people would have a frag of each morph. We could average the price of all 3 morphs then divide by 6 and that’s what each person would pay. The biggest problem I would see in this is if someone’s lord died or if someone button hooked us and did not exchange down the road. This may also end up costing a bit more. Let me know what you think.

Oh another note whoever that R is has some serious money look at all the frags they bought.

One thing to keep in mind is you most likely will get a few partial polyps when fragging acans. Make sure EVERYONE understands that going in. Someone that has paid for two polyps wont be happy getting 1 1/2 polyps for their cash, and someone that paid for a single polyp may need to cough up that 1/2 polyp cash if their frag ends up being 1 1/2 polyps.

The ones on Anthony's site (aquadesigns) are stellar. Probably your best shot at getting a "unique" morph. For the record, I doubt our ocean provides many "one of a kind" morphs. When a seller lists something as "one of a kind", it generally means that particular seller hasn't seen one before, thats all ;) The flip side to that is to consider EVERY coral as one of a kind, since they all have a slight difference in color intensity, color shade, pattern, etc. The words "rare", and "one of a kind" are SOOOOOO over used in this hobby.

That being said, I believe the more unique morphs will keep their price, as long as there is interest in acans. And with the stellar color morphs that are occasionally available, I dont see the interest waning anytime soon. Good luck with the search guys. I doubt youre going to find anything more stellar than what Anthony offers. He's got the primo acans.

I ordered a reeflo hamerhead today from Salty critter and he said he should be getting some unusual colors of lords in the next couple weeks. Also, the guy that has the lords inthe link above wants to know what people are willing to pay for a frag of that coral (I told him $100 for that morph is a bit much). So, if there is interest in that morph, how much??

I'm thinking if we got it down to $50/polyp or possibly less since it will potentially be a larger chunk that would be reasonable. I think it really depends on how many people we are trying to get frags for out of it, and how many polyps everyone wants. Maybe we should figure out how many polyps we are going to need, then give him our offer.

ok from what i can tell its gonna be 12 or 13 polyps depending on if sinistard gets 2-3. that sounds fine with me but i need to have a way for everyone to get the money to me asap so i can place the order quickly. i normally would just go ahead and pay and then try and collect later but at $40 a pop a few people bowing out would be super costly to me. im predicting ill have to work late friday and since friday is payday it seems like a good day collect from everyone if thats cool with everyone. but because of work i wont be able to (unless you wanna meet around 9pm) so i need a volunteer whod be willing to meet up with people and collect. and then ill meet with whomever collected later in the day and place the order. now all i need to do is figured out who would be available friday to collect. *coughs* (bcollins lmao)
