Hey gang. Tried a search but couldn't find the right terminology.

I'm thinking about setting up a smallish (35-50g) tank for the office instead of a Nanocube. Requirements: GLASS, no sump, and no visible plumbing/powerheads.

Basically, how could I create (or purchase) a false wall for the back of a standard glass aquarium? Something similar to this:

________________________
\_____________/

_______________________

where I could hide my powerhead(s), carbon, and heater.

Any ideas? Thanks!

Seaclear makes tanks with an intergrated filtration setup.
These might give you some ideas...

I think it wouldnt be difficult to DIY it. Something like a piece of glass cut to the size you need, siliconed in place with chambers (sort of like the nano cubes) for support and equipment sections. I think it'd work pretty well.

Who's requirements are those? The offices? Or yours? I understand the need for no sump and glass, but no visible equipment? Wow, you have a strict office environment :p

I made a 15 gallon nano reef do exactly what you are wanting to do. I patterned it after a hangon the tank wet dry system... I would say start with a 40 gallon breeder though... it will be a 30 gallon by the time you are done.

I liked mine... never spilled even a drop of water.

Barr aquatic is where I had mine made. I know that wetdryfilter.com can also do it.

Something like the SeaClear aquariums with the "sump" built in the back?

Check out this thread where the guy bent his own corner overflow. http://archive.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=639112 You could do something similar by bending your angles and siliconing it to the back of the tank as the partition wall.

tekknoschtev, the requirements are mine, not the office. I just want a clean setup, and don't want the added noise and complexity I associate with a sump.

I've seen the seaclear online, but really don't want acrylic - i've never had an acrylic tank but the horror stories of all the scratches make me a little nervous. Plus, I can't find ANYONE that actually has one of the seaclear tanks, and I'd love some feedback before spending the dough.

Rich, the other link is really inspirational. maybe I'll go to the local acrylic shop today and see what I can cook up. If I wuss out, I'll try Barr or wetdryfilter.com.

Thanks, everybody!

thanks!
