I have a 6' long BB tank ,and I can't decide if I should use eductors,or penductors. Is there a rule of thumb on tank size? Is there a big difference in the two?

Reefrubble,
I have 2 penductors on my 120 (4') long tank. I really like them. They put out quite the amount of flow, especially in a 4' tank. I went with them due to the size difference, as I didn't think that I needed the extra flow that I would be sacrificing.

I think eductor= more flow but bigger and penductor = smaller with less flow.

I personally purchased 3/4" Eductors, and modified them a bit by opening up the discharge orifice to 3/4", thereby creating no backpressure on my pumps. I know I am losing a bit of performance this way, but I still have the benifit of the eductor diffuser......so basically I am trying to get the best of both worlds..I just didnt like the idea of constant backpressure om my pumps, even though both my Iwaki's are pressure rated...

Thanks for the info Chris,I know what you mean about size. I don't like things distracting my view. We don't have reef tanks to look at plumbing.

DLS,I know you get more flow with the larger eductor, than you do with penductor . I just don't know if I need to go with the eductor on a 6' long tank.

Acroholic, I also don't like the idea of all that B/P on my pump, but I do want the high flow with out the strong force stream you get coming out of a standerd fitting . Will the smaller penductor give me flow all the way down the entire 6' of my tank?

I have two penductors on my 6' 210g tank. One in each back corner facing center front glass. I get quite a bit of flow out of them. I also have 2 scwd's and am thinking about swapping them out for two more penductors. I've never used eductors, but I don't know if the extra size would justify the extra flow. Maybe they're not that much bigger though.

I have 4 penductors from KTH Sales on a BB 180 powered by an Iwaki 100. Flow is awesome. I did open the the discharge orifice a little bit with a 3/8" drill bit. I really like this set up but will be replacing it with a Reeflo Dart and Oceans Motions 4 way this weekend (hopefully, I have been procrastinating for a few weeks now).

I have 2 penductors ran by an Iwaki 55 & 1 penductor & 1 eductor ran by a Blueline HD55 on my 180 & I think that I have plenty of flow. IMO, it can't hurt to mix them up.

I have 2 eductors on a 120 4' with a Sequence 4800SEQ22 running them. The flow is unreal, I have trouble keeping water in the tank.

are streams less flow than eductors?

I think that it depends on what pump is used as well as what configurations are being used. I never owned a Tunze, so I'm not sure.

I removed 2 Tunze 6080's and 2 Seio 1100's when I set up the 4 penductors. The flow is better with the Tunze's because it is softer but moves as much if not more water, but I can't stand the look of power heads in the tank.

I have 2 penductors being pushed by a BL-100....tremendous flow! The penductors are more pleasing to the eye, since they are shorter.

chap & myreef, not to mention no electricity "inside" the display tank.:D
