I don't know yet. Most likely my house. But I'm worried that people will come at different times because of work schedules, etc and I'll miss them when I'm not home. So I'm going to TRY and work something out with a lfs near the John Wayne Airport. Maybe they can hold them for us in a tank for a little extra $ and people can pick them up whenever they want. If this is reasonable then let me know and I'll see what I can do.

But we have another issue I think we should address: Payment.
Gary, the guy I'm getting them from has told me that he doesn't accept paypal and wants either checks or money orders sent to his address.
Would you guys feel okay WRITING out checks to HIM and SENDING them to ME so we can all send them together to his address in one big bunch?

there in the same family but suppossedly are not rampant about taking over a tank like aiptasia and majano anemones. I'll get more info and post it later.

I like that idea by diddye, that way only one person needs to send payment to the seller and we don't have to worry about someone's check not clearing (no insult intended to anyone) and then having the purchase fall through. And be safer for you too SuperNerd, paypal is guaranteed.

On that note, I'm flexible either way...paypal you or send money order or check.

to a certain extend..If he get like 10 payment a month, they going to consider that it is a merchant account and they will charge him for recieving money. Setting it up is alway free!

So on a $10.00 transfer, there is $.25 + $.29 = $.53

I learned this the "hard way" with the group buy that I did. Take the 30 payments I had and multiply it be $.25
I only ended up short about $4 because some people paid extra. Such nice people :)

Yes. It is free is you send money via bank account, but not with a merchant account.

The group buy I had was about $1500... so I had to upgrade.

You need to divide 25 by the # of anemones purchased to get the correct total.
When you divide it by 14, you are charging more per anemone than the actual cost.
There were 22 anemones purchased, so shipping for each is $1.14. That would make the total for each $11.75, give or take a few pennies.

What I know is that it is a flat $25 shipping rate fee(instead of $60) per group order, not per anemone but I think I did goof up and added the shipping rate each person owes to each anemone instead of each order.

Your formula is off, 22 were ordered, therefore to get the cost per anemone you must divide by the total bought, not how many people ordered them. My first post is still correct.

I told you already. Shipping is $1.14 per anemone . To get your total, multiply the # you are buying by $10. Then multiply that by 1.029 to get the paypal percent. Add 30 cents for the transaction fee. Then add the $1.14 per anemone as shipping. How is this hard?

The shipment is a total charge for all the anemones, not per anemone.
It's charged as one whole package.
Each person has to pitch in for the $25 flat rate and if there are 14 people it comes out to $1.80 per person.

diddye is right, this is taking way too long. Although my intentions were good about this whole shenanigan, "I" am the one who ends up looking dishonest and that is something that I REALLY don’t like.

This group order is now finalized. If I do not receive the differences by the end of this week I will not send the payment to Gary and will instead begin writing out checks to each one of you (after you send me your mailing address) for the amount of money you initially sent me.

I am so sorry to do this to those of you who were upfront and honest with me from the start, but the actions of other people here have left me no choice. :(

As a side note: Gary will be offline until Sunday so I have no way to speed anything up once I get all the numbers together and I will possibly(it's not for sure yet) be leaving for a week beginning this Thursday so the order will again be delayed some time.

$10.00 = cost per anemone (product)
$0.30 = paypal service fee
2.9% of total product cost (including shipping fee) = credit card fee

These stupid numbers added up correctly in the following formula will give you the amount you owe:

(# of anemones X $10.00)
+ $3.00
_____________
= total cost of product

then add: (2.9% of total cost of product) + $0.30 + total cost of product
_________________________________________

= total order cost




To the rest of you guys: Please send me an additional $2.50 to cover ANY differences in shipping cost. I want to be safe and if it turns out that I owe you money in the end, I will pay you back.

diddye is right, this is taking way too long. Although my intentions were good about this whole shenanigan, "I" am the one who ends up looking dishonest and that is something that I REALLY don’t like.

This group order is now finalized. If I do not receive the differences by the end of this week I will not send the payment to Gary and will instead begin writing out checks to each one of you (after you send me your mailing address) for the amount of money you initially sent me.

I am so sorry to do this to those of you who were upfront and honest with me from the start, but the actions of other people here have left me no choice. :(

As a side note: Gary will be offline until Sunday so I have no way to speed anything up once I get all the numbers together and I will possibly(it's not for sure yet) be leaving for a week beginning this Thursday so the order will again be delayed some time.

Guys please don't jump to conclusions. The money will hopefully be sent this week. I already told Gary this and FWIW am working out the number of anemones put aside for our order with him right now.

Like I said earlier, I wasn't sure I was going to leave home, left in the last minute and stayed a little bit longer than I expected.
I didn't send Gary any money because I did not want the anemones to arrive when I was not at home.

Please be patient. I'm working this whole thing out during my free time and I, unfortunately, have had a little less time than I would like to do the things that I enjoy outside of work.

Today the anemones left New York and are on their way to California at this very moment.
They will stick very strongly to wherever you place them (don't use any glue :)) and for this reason they will be packed in bags. And because they will be packed in bags Gary suggests that everyone try to pick them up within three days after they arrive.

Sorry, I didn't take any pics before I dropped them off. They came in varying sizes with the majority of them being a little bit less than the diameter of a quarter and a couple being smaller than the diameter of a penny (maybe still in shock and shriveled up??). I didn't look at them under any fluorescent lights or halides but they all looked like the fourth pic in my first post.
