If anyone is interested, I will have a BTA for sell/ trade. It had green tips when I kept it under PC's now it is a brown color under MH's.

not trying to hijack the thread, but I have a bta that looks just like that. Why the heck do they call them bubble (or bulb) tipped anemones when they are most definately not bubble (or bulb) tips on the tentacles? I don't get it...

Lots of schools of thought on that Chris, some think it's related to the amount of UV radiation the anemone is exposed to. It's been demonstrated that BTAs keep and re-develop their bulbs under natural sunlight and some MH lighting setups. I believe they are utilizing an area of the spectrum that we can't actaually see. Others think its food or flow related but I doubt that personally.

Yes, I have also heard they change under different lights. As I said at the beginning of this thread the BTA looked vary different under PC's.

Looks just like the one I used to have under 260 PC.

To further confuse things :D
Just did a quick count and right now I see in my tank

5 (maybe 6) BTA with long tentacles
6 BTA fully bubbled
4 BTA partially bubbled
and one skunk clown that thinks she's in heaven :)

All are clones of my original BTA (that had long tentacles when I got it).
The "herd" all hang out together in the top of the rock directly under a 250mh.

I don't think they (probably only 2-4 then) every developed bubble tips under vho but really can't remember.

Under 110w pc for about 2 years up to 4 of them showed bubble tips more than half the time.
They kept the same color rose/green with pink tips under all 3 types of light. Well except the couple of times I bleached them
I did feed the ones under pc and vho.

I had a BTA that lost it's bubbles when I let the macralgae get too big and the bubbles returned when I harvested much of the macro. Coincidence??? Perhaps. I simply don't know but that is the only thing in the tank that changed.

If bneal3 doesn't take it let me know what you want for it.

This little guy is doing well in my tank. I hope it splits one day too.

The only drawbacks are I have tank raised clowns that won't host and it picked a spot in the back. You wouldn't even notice it if you didn't know it was there.

I traded one to Mary and I believe she said it has already divided. What kind of clowns do you have? Ocellaris will rarely host in a bubble tip, they prefer carpet anemones. My Maroon clown will host in BTA's along with many other types of clowns

I have ocellaris. I didn't figure they would host when I got it.

it took me over two years, but finally my clowns are hosting my bta.... if they are tank raised it takes some time...

Cool Chris

It took my skunk over a year. Lights came on Mother's Day morning and there she was all snuggled in. Pretty nice present. Now I need to find her a boyfriend.
