i know this stuff likes to grow down into darker shaded areas. if i was to buy one and put it higher in my rocks in a non shaded area will i get a cool growth trail to a dark shaded area?

It needs to be in a shaded area or it will eventually get algae growth which has to be manually removed with tweezers and a tooth brush. Obviously I speak from experience. ;)
