Someone at the reef meeting (can't remember who and first meeting) told me to control my tank temp in the summer to get a clip on fan....I wanted to say THANK YOU!!! My tank at night would run about 79.5 or so.....and mid day would range from 80.5 to 81.5...no idea why big difference ( but not a real big deal). I wanted to try and run my tank about 78-79 but couldn't get it that low.....purchased a clip on fan for 4.99 at big lots...today the tank w/fan on low sat at a solid 78.4 ...wooohooooo, have not been able to keep that temp....I hooked up fan to go on with lights, so tonight tank is 79.3......not bad! I try to keep within a degree or two and no more....

Cool. I am starting to struggle with higher temps. Are you just blowing the air over the top of your tank? Do you have a canopy or just open top?
My problem is that I don't have a canopy yet, and can't run an open top because I have jumpers.

yeah I don't have my canopy on right now so open top and the fan just blows right over the top between my lights and water...worked like a charm....

If you have a sump a fan on the top of that helps also and you can hide it in the stand.

I have 2 cheapos from target in the hood blowing accross the open top and up at an angle and it keeps it from going up 3 degrees to 82 without fans. Stays a nice 79.
