ponds, basic info..help!

planning on putting a pond in the back yard but what do i need or need to avoid. Just looking for any tricks or ways to save myself problem. If anypone has any personal expirience with ponds help will be appreciated.

Try your LFS and see if they have that cheesy Hagen pond video.. Think it sells for 10 bucks or so. It's stupid, corny, and actually fairly full of good information. They come with pond kits or are available seperately.
