A buddy of mine is searching for lights, new or used, but reasonably priced. He has a 3ft.long bowfront reef.I told him I'd ask the group- anyone know of any leads to follow? I don't think the light source is an issue.{ie:MH, PC,VHO}Thanks, Gary

With the bowfronts I'd stay away from rectangular bulbs like VHO's. A nice fat 400 watter would do just ducky, IMO :-)

Mac- I agree , but he feels the 400 is TOO much light. He figures he could fit up to 3 VHO's up there on the top- there is a center brace.

Same subject, a buddy of mine is looking for either a 4 bulb PC hood for his 45 tall (36inch long) or a single halide / PC's or Single Halide / VHO's. If anyone wants to part with lighting like this even if the ballast is missing please let me know.

Or if anyone has a nice reflector for single or double halides in any size please let me know.

Thanks,
Pat

KBCobra- Tell your buddy I have a 400watt Radium 20,000k MH pendant for $75 - PC's and VHO's could be used with this lamp, but would not be necessary. The light emitted by this fixture is AWESOME- kmagyar,Dr.Mac,the Waikiki aquarium and many others use this lightsource.Do a search on 20,000k Radium lamps. This is a real deal for someone, and I still have this fixture as I am very reluctant to ship it to those that have been inquiring about it out of the local area because of the pain of packing it up securely and cost of shipping the heavy ballast. How hard/heavy is it to hang ? Does that come with the bulb ? I think he would be interested - do you think he would need a source of white lighting in addition to the pendant (PC's,NO) ?

The $75 includes the lamp.It is heavy, but can be hung easily from hooks- as it has hanging chains.I had three of them hanging from a header in my home. Any other lighting would NOT be necessary. This is the light that grew my big table acro{see website}.The only thing that he would need is a heavy duty timer to plug this into.

Hey Pat,
I see you've found our club site. The guy with the free rock is the guy I told you that might have an extra 36" light. Sorry to hear about your power being out for days. Good thing you got that power converter. I will probably pick one up real soon.

Yeah with a bit of digging I found the place. Dave has a 48inch light I will probably buy off of him and I will use my 2 PC lights I got from you on my 55 Long. He has a 48 inch hood with 2 175 Halides and 2 65w compacts. Money allowing. If anyone knows of any cheap places to get a few assorted mushrooms im in the market.

Pat, I've got some bubbly purply-greenish ones if you like. If I'm not feeling too lazy, I'll try to snap a pic of them later.

Welcome Pat,

Got Green Striped 'Shrooms for the taking... just have to come and get them.
We can work something out at the next club meeting, or whenever "the Gang" gets together.

Mac's on the south side of Crotchfester, and I'm on the NW side. His green-striped shrooms reproduce faster than rabbits on viagra. As for the bubbly ones, I found an old pic, but it's pretty yellow. It also shows how many mini brittles I used to have. <sniff>

Question for PC lighting experts: What is the difference in German vs. European lamps? I've only run MH and VHO- so I'm ignorant of PC terminology.
