downsizing my 90 to oceanic stretch-hex (40). I will custom build a canopy for this....
My goal smaller is better, self-contained is great. I have looked at self-contained pendants (ballast/pendant together), remote ballasts. I like the idea of self-contained but haven't heard much about Blueline like I have about IC/Bluewave.
Can I mount an Ice Cap electronic MH 250 HQI/DE ballast directly to the stand? I believe that Marine Depot says that the IceCap wont run the XM bulbs?
Third choice would be a remote ballast sitting on the floor (well off the floor). I have PFO/HQI dual 400 W on my 90 boy does the ballast put off some heat!
250 DE on this tank may more than offset the "par" loss due to using electronic ballast vs magnetic.
I plan on keeping LPS, SPS, and yes clams on the beach.
Just when I get my 90 the way I like it..... Time to start another project tank :rollface:
