I need a skimmer

I have 9" X 9" available in my sump and am looking for a good quality skimmer. My system has about 45 gal of water in it. I plan on upgrading to a large tank, so I would like a skimmer that can handle around 150 gal. I was looking at the ASM's, but I don't think they will fit in my sump. Does anyone have a mod to run these outside the sump? Any ideas, suggestions or comments would be great. Thanks for the help,

build you own recirculating skimmer to fit your needs. it will have to be alot bigger to run a 150 so you will need a reaction chamber that is 6"-8" dia.

Is there a thread you know of that shows how to build your own skimmer. I would be interested in building it, but I have no idea how. Thanks for the help,

if you do a search for "diy skimmer" or "euro reef clone" you should be able to come up with enough pictures of them. then ask the builder what parts they used to make it.
there is a few sites that have skimmer designs but i dont have the names of them.

you could check out ww.asmskimmer.com they have pictures of modded skimmers there. Also someone might help you mod an ASM to run out of sump. Good luck.
