I just bought ASM-G3 skimmer and have a few questions.
1. Do I need to cement the elbow to the pump or is the press fit sufficient?

2. Does it matter how far I press the elbow into the skimmer?

3. I assume I set the foam filter as low as possible and its purpose is to break the water coming from the pipe to reduce the noise, true?

4. the cup seems to fit fairly loose to the skimmer and is leaking a little, not a major deal as it is in the sump but any suggestions to make the connection tighter? Would a gasket lubricant help?

I am replacing my berlin hang on skimmer with the G3, when I put both side by side it seems the red sea berlin skimmer is no more than a toy. Looking forward to installing it into my 90 reef

1. No cement needed...just snug it.
2. Just press it snug...don't push so hard that you crack the acrylic
3. Yes, but play with it until it works best on yours
4. Did you twist the cup until it stopped? Don't know about the lube...mine seems to work just fine when twisted all the way "tight".

One more piece of advice....don't twist the lid to the cup into place...just sit it on top in place...sometimes I've had difficulty removing the lid to clean it when twisted into the "locked" position. It will work just fine with the lid simply sitting in its place without being twisted into the locked position.
