Aqua Medic Reactors

I'm new to reactors and just wondering what the best one for the least amount of money is ? Any one use these? I was looking at the 1000 model with a dosing pump. Good or bad? I am assuming you still need a co2 setup. Any help would be great.

never seen one run in person (local fish store hooked one up for a guy and than un hooked it--they were having problems with it)

The problem is the local fish shop guy not the product ... aquamedic 1000 series if set up properly r excellent as they seldom break down ... both my calcium and de nitrators have been running for the last 8 years with minimum problems apart from replacing the media (as in the case of the CA reactor) and topping up the deniballs.
