View Full Version : Adding gallons again... Poss tank plans

I am adding a 45 gallon sump to my system. I am doing this for several reasons.
1. Give more water for the fish. I have a large bioload so I need more volume.
2. I now have a place to add seeded live rock to the system and keep it alive while I plan out my new system.
3. Cause I have unused space.. ( is that a good enough reason?)
Which leads me to say, here is a poss plan for my new tank.

The tank will be 36x24x21 (or24)
Here is the sump

I am pricing it out now... We will see

Sorry, reewik, which one is the sump? What are you planning for a final tank size and how many sumps will you end up with? You are up to six sumps right now, aren't you;)? Will the 36x24x21 tnak be your display? Is that roughly 78gallons? Why is the sky blue? Why are stop signs hexagonal? Why do fish swim?
Sorry. Got carried away with questions. It's just so hard to find answers to some of these:). (They've been working me too hard at work. My brain is fried. No really, it's the work;). Gonna have to talk to that a$$ boss of mine. He's really a PITA:))

I've got some questions!
What program did you use for your sketch?
I have a micrsoft paint document I would like to post, how do I do that? It shows my current sump setup. I just re-tweaked it.
I had a 120gal rr with 34gal sump. It only ran 1/2 full and had barely enough room for an oversized skimmer and no room for a fuge. I just swapped out my two week old acrylic sump for a 54gal rubbermaid. Now I have room for the skimmer, fuge (5galbucket) and live rock. A fellow reefer reccomended this adjustment and I like it. I would like to share it and get some critique and maybe give you some ideas if I can post it.

The new sump will be for my existing system. I will then have aprox 115 gallons in the system. that will be two tanks and two sumps....
The other is a new system I am thinking about ... Ir will have the 45 gallon sump and either 78 gallons or 90 gallons, I have not yet decided on the height. Total between 123 to 135 gallons...

Well all said and done I have (1) 50 gallon sump (1) 13 gallon sump (1) 22 gallon tank and (1) 42 gallon tank .. plummer together I would say that is about 110 gallons because of rock? Somewhere in there anyway...
